چکیده

This 3-year prospective study enrolled 95 subjects from15 Chinese cities including 25 high-titer (GADA ‡180 units/mL) LADA patients, 42 low-titer (GADA <180 units/mL) LADA patients, and 28 type 2 diabetic patients, the latter two groups as controls of similar age, sex, andBMI. Clinical characteristicswere determined annually, including glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), fasting C-peptide (FCP), and 2-h postprandial C-peptide (PCP).

Latent autoimmune diabetes in adults with low-titer GAD antibodies: similar disease progression with type 2 diabetes: a nationwide, multicenter prospective study (LADA China Study 3).

OBJECTIVE This study investigated the relationship between GAD autoantibody (GADA) titers and changing of β-cell function in patients with latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA). RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS This 3-year prospective study enrolled 95 subjects from 15 Chinese cities including 25 high-titer (GADA ≥180 units/mL) LADA patients, 42 low-titer (GADA <180 units/mL) LADA patients, ...

Comment on Liu et al. Latent autoimmune diabetes in adults with low-titer GAD antibodies: similar disease progression with type 2 diabetes: a nationwide, multicenter prospective study (LADA China Study 3). Diabetes Care 2015;38:16-21.

We read with great interest the article by Liu et al. (1) demonstrating that progression of diabetes among subjects with latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) having low titer of GAD antibody (GADA) is similar to that in subjects with type 2 diabetes over the periodof 3 years. This is a largepopulationbased, prospective, well-controlled study with well-characterized subjects. Major epidem...

The protein tyrosine phosphatase nonreceptor 22 (PTPN22) is associated with high GAD antibody titer in latent autoimmune diabetes in adults: Non Insulin Requiring Autoimmune Diabetes (NIRAD) Study 3.

OBJECTIVE We previously demonstrated the presence of two different populations among individuals with adult-onset autoimmune diabetes: those having either a high titer or a low titer of antibodies to GAD (GADAs). Protein tyrosine phosphatase nonreceptor type 22 (PTPN22) has been identified as a new susceptibility gene for type 1 diabetes and other autoimmune diseases. The aim of the present stu...

Combined treatment with sitagliptin and vitamin D in a patient with latent autoimmune diabetes in adults

UNLABELLED Latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA) is a relatively new type of diabetes with a clinical phenotype of type 2 diabetes (T2D) and an immunological milieu characterized by high titers of islet autoantibodies, resembling the immunological profile of type 1 diabetes (T1D). Herein, we report a case of a young male, diagnosed with LADA based on both clinical presentation and positiv...
